Solstice Ritual

By Paul Many

In the Midwest in
deep wood, distant
semi-tires sing
in the quiet between sawings.

Inside the warmed cabin,
chilled evergreen air
cascades as,
supine, you set the base.

Next morning
when all else has thawed,
ice footprints trace
your trip from the treeline.
